About Vascular Interventional Associates

We are a regional vascular interventional radiology center of excellence located in Buffalo New York specializing in image guided procedures. Vascular Interventional Associates was formed in 2000, as a complete clinical practice staffed with three physicians, two physician assistants and a full secretarial staff to provide better service for patients and referring physicians. Vascular Interventional Associates has full admitting privileges at both Buffalo General Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital.

Using imaging technology we are able to perform a wide range of procedures to diagnose and treat many common as well as rare disorders. Often with interventional procedures surgery can be avoided. In fact we are able to treat some disorders for which there is no surgical alternative.

The endovascular specialists at Vascular Interventional Associates primarily treat vascular conditions affecting the arteries and veins. However, they have extensive knowledge in treating the non-vascular conditions as well.

Vascular Conditions - Affecting the Arteries

  • Peripheral Vascular Disease - "tired leg" or painful muscle on walking due to blockage of leg or pelvic arteries.
  • Renal Vascular Hypertension - high blood pressure due to renal or (kidney artery) narrowing

Vascular Conditions - Affecting the Veins

  • Deep Vein Thrombosis - calf pain or leg swelling due to blood clots in veins of legs
  • Varicose Veins - bulging leg veins due to vein reflux
  • Male Infertility - due to varicoceles
  • Vein access - long term intravenous care
  • Dialysis access - AV fistula/grafts

Non-Vascular Conditions

  • Uterine Fibroids - heavy menstrual periods due to fibroids
  • Osteoporosis/spine fracture - sudden back pain due to vertebral spine fractures

Procedures are performed when indicated following consultation with one of our vascular interventional radiologists. Most patients are dismissed within 24 hours and often the same day. Full pre-operative, anesthesia, recovery and observation facilities are available as needed.
